China will not allow Sri Lanka to face a fuel shortage under any circumstances, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong has said.

He made this statement while speaking to the media after attending an event at Sri Santhanananda Buddhist College in Asgiriya, Kandy, where dry rations were distributed to 350 low-income families in the area.

The Ambassador further stated that China continues to extend its support to Sri Lanka, reflecting the long-standing friendship between the two countries. He noted that due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, several countries across the world have been affected, and China is prepared to provide Sri Lanka with any assistance required at any time.

He expressed confidence that if a fuel shortage arises in the country, the situation could be managed through Sinopec. He also emphasised that the Chinese Government will continue to support Sri Lanka’s economic development without doubt.

The Ambassador added that China hopes the current ceasefire in the Middle East will continue and reiterated that China remains ready to assist Sri Lanka in meeting any future crisis situation.
