Appeal Court Dismisses Yoshitha Rajapaksa's Revision Petition
04-Jul-2026.
The Court of Appeal has dismissed a revision petition filed by Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who sought to prevent conspiracy charges against him from proceeding under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The Bench held that a conspiracy charge can legally proceed against a single accused even if another alleged conspirator is not before the court. Accordingly, the court upheld the Colombo High Court's decision allowing the case to continue.
The Attorney General had originally indicted Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his grandmother Daisy Forrest. After Daisy Forrest was discharged on medical grounds, Yoshitha argued that the conspiracy charge could no longer stand. Both the High Court and the Court of Appeal rejected that argument.
