We Did Not Request Domestic Inquiry – C.V.K. Sivagnanam
28-Jul-2025.
Acting Leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, C.V.K. Sivagnanam, clarified that his party never requested a domestic investigation into war crimes or genocide.
He emphasized that their letter to the President only discussed the need for excavation and forensic support related to the Chemmani mass graves.
At a media briefing in Jaffna, he responded to criticism from MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, who alleged the party supported a domestic inquiry.
Sivagnanam rejected the claim, saying, “Our letter never mentioned satisfaction with domestic mechanisms or rejection of international investigations.”
He reiterated the demand for internationally recognized forensic experts and reaffirmed that the government's responsibility is to provide full support for such processes.
