Telangana police have arrested nine members of an interstate gang that sedated cattle, stole them, and sold the meat in Maharashtra border areas.

The gang, active for several months in Nirmal district and neighbouring regions in Telangana, was led by Syed Sohel from Nanded, who had nearly 40 members under him.

Police said the gang used sedative injections, supplied by Khalid from Bhainsa, to capture cows and bulls. They then transported the animals in modified Innovas and Boleros with rear seats removed, slaughtered them, and sold the meat illegally.

A large garage in Nanded was allegedly used for modifying vehicles for the illegal trade.
