Stalin announces aid to families of 3 students killed in school van-train collision

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences to the families of three students who died after a school van was struck by a passenger train at a level crossing in Semmankuppam, Cuddalore district on July 8.

The Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh each as compensation to the families of the deceased students, identified as Nimilesh, aged 12, Charumathi, aged 16 and Chezhian. He also announced Rs 1 lakh to each of the students currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

The Chief Minister, in a post on X, said, "I am deeply shocked and pained by the tragic news of the accident that took place in Cuddalore Chemmanguppam, where the lives of two young students were lost. I extend my heartfelt condolences and solace to the parents, relatives, and friends of the deceased students, Nimilesh and Sarumathi."
