Plot to Discredit Soldiers in Geneva: Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera

Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera warned that during the upcoming UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva, there is a conspiracy to discredit the soldiers who defended the nation. He urged the government not to allow this.

Speaking to the media on September 2, he said:

“The question arises—can Westerners teach us about human rights? We are a people who even protected the rights of animals. Yet now, those very nations are attempting to disgrace the soldiers who saved our country from terrorism.

This is nothing but an attempt to tarnish our national reputation and to drag down those who dedicated themselves to society. The government must not permit any move in Geneva that betrays our armed forces.”
