More Human Skeletons Found in Chemmani

Five additional sets of human skeletal remains have been identified in two mass graves in Chemmani, Jaffna, along with a ring resembling a bangle.

Over the past three days, 20 sets have been uncovered, with two fully excavated. Excavations continue at sites marked by the court as “Forensic Excavation Site No. 01 and No. 02.”

With a 45-day court-approved excavation period, work is ongoing, and July 23 marked Day 18 of the second phase.

To date, 67 sets of remains have been unearthed in 27 excavation days. In the past three days alone, 20 sets were found.
