Commissioner General for Buddhist Affairs in Sri Lanka Removed

Kasun Wellahaewa, who previously served as the Additional Commissioner of the Department of Buddhist Affairs, has been appointed as the Acting Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs.

This appointment comes following the removal of Premasiri Rathnayake from the position of Commissioner General. 

According to the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs, Rathnayake was dismissed for failing to fulfill his duties properly.

The Ministry had submitted a formal report of misconduct to the Cabinet, which ultimately led to the decision to remove Rathnayake from office.
