Bail Granted to Constable in Connection with Kanemulla Sanjeev Murder

Colombo Chief Magistrate Dhanuka Lakmali Jayatunga ordered the release on bail of Police Constable Hashitha Roshan from the Athurugiriya Police Station. 

He was previously remanded for allegedly aiding the main suspect in the shooting death of Kanemulla Sanjeev by providing a motorcycle for escape.

The suspect was granted bail with a cash bond of LKR 50,000 and personal bail totaling LKR 2.5 million. The magistrate also emphasized that no threats should be made to witnesses.

The release followed a bail application filed in the Colombo High Court by the suspect’s lawyer, Marvin de Silva, noting that the accused had been held in remand for over five months.

After reading out the bail conditions issued by the High Court, the magistrate granted bail. The suspect, who was held in Bussa Prison, was brought to court under heavy security before the order was issued.
