Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi Acting Leader C.V.K. Sivagnanam has informed Parliamentarian S. Sritharan that representatives of his party participated in an organisation formed by six Tamil-speaking parties represented in Parliament only after the matter had been discussed by the political committee.

He said that although he did not personally participate due to personal reasons, he had been kept informed of the developments and that he was certain no draft document had been prepared as claimed by Sritharan.

Sivagnanam conveyed this in a letter addressed to Parliamentarian S. Sritharan.

The letter further stated:

“I am writing this letter regarding the matter posted by Parliamentarian Shanakiyan Rasamanickam on August 2, 2026, referring to the General Secretary and members of the Political Committee.

“Since several matters you mentioned in an interview given to a private media organisation are related to an ongoing court case, I wish to clarify only two matters.

“Firstly, it should be noted that what you received from Mano Ganesan was only a concept paper. You have stated that I also participated in the Central Working Committee meeting held in Vavuniya on November 5, 2023. That is incorrect. I did not participate in that meeting.

“The organisation formed by the six Tamil-speaking parties represented in Parliament was discussed by the political committee, following which our representatives participated in it. Although I did not personally participate due to personal reasons, I was kept informed of the developments. I confirm that I am clearly aware that, contrary to what you have stated, no draft document was prepared.

“On many matters, it has been our practice for you to inquire from me or for me to provide information to you. In such circumstances, had you consulted me before making these comments publicly, it would have avoided the possibility of creating a perception among the public and within the party that there was a division within the party. This should have been avoided.

“Everyone must bear in mind that those holding positions in the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, as well as those of us elected through the party, are all guardians and trustees of the party.”
