COPF questions Treasury over outdated email system

The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) has questioned Treasury officials over the continued use of an outdated email system whose technical support expired in 2019.

Committee Chairman Dr. Harsha de Silva said the obsolete system had become vulnerable to cyberattacks and asked why it remained in use despite repeated warnings. Officials confirmed that the email platform, introduced in 2016, continued to be used for official communication, including matters relating to foreign debt transactions now under investigation.
