Sri Lanka's Revenue Administration Reforms and Modernisation Bureau (RARMB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a high-level meeting at the Presidential Secretariat to review progress in modernising the country's revenue administration.

Chaired by Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the discussions focused on tax administration reforms, customs modernisation, excise management, digitalisation, data integration and expanding the tax base. IMF officials commended the RARMB's governance framework and reaffirmed continued technical and advisory support.

Officials said tax compliance under the Inland Revenue Department has improved from 40-45 per cent to 70-75 per cent following administrative reforms. Measures including paperless customs procedures, simplified tax structures and enhanced inter-agency coordination are also being implemented.
