18-Jun-2026.
Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Sunil Handunnetti said Sri Lanka aims to increase export earnings to US$36 billion by 2030 under the National Export Development Plan 2026-2030.
Speaking at the official launch in Colombo, he said the plan is intended to strengthen and diversify the economy through a transparent and structured national policy framework.
The government expects export earnings to reach US$20 billion by 2026 and US$36 billion by 2030. During the first quarter of this year alone, exports generated US$4.5 billion.
The Minister said Sri Lanka intends to move from a service-based economy to a stronger industrial economy. The government is also encouraging value addition to mineral resources rather than exporting raw materials.
Plans are being developed to market Sri Lankan tea, seafood, marine products, fragrances and automobile components internationally under a distinct national brand.
He highlighted Sri Lanka's strategic location and improved transport infrastructure as advantages for attracting foreign investment and accessing new markets in Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
