All political forces must unite to face future challenges, says Ranil

Former President and leader of the United National Party (UNP), Ranil Wickremesinghe, has called on all political forces to work together instead of acting separately in order to face future political challenges as a united force.

He made these remarks during a special meeting of the UNP Working Committee held under his leadership at the party’s political office in Colombo.

The meeting was attended by several Working Committee members, who discussed the current political situation and the party’s response to emerging developments.

Discussions also focused on rebuilding the party’s structure from the grassroots level and implementing key plans for its future development. Members were also briefed on how future political activities could be coordinated with other political parties and organizations.

UNP General Secretary Attorney-at-Law Thalatha Atukorale officially informed the committee about disciplinary action taken against certain local government representatives who had acted against party discipline.

At the conclusion of the meeting, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated that several important decisions were reached after extensive discussions on strengthening the party and working together with other political forces.
