Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya Extends Haj Greetings

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, in her Haj festival message, stated that all people must commit themselves to building a peaceful and harmonious society by setting aside narrow differences and showing dignity and compassion towards others.
In her message issued to mark Haj, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims in Sri Lanka and across the world celebrating Eid-ul-Adha with devotion and reverence.
She stated that Haj commemorates the immense devotion and sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim and conveys the importance of being willing to dedicate even one’s most valued possessions for the greater good of humanity and in submission to the will of God.
Amarasuriya emphasised that during this sacred occasion, people should move beyond divisions and recognise the importance of brotherhood, coexistence and collective unity.
She further stated that the message of sacrifice and compassion embodied in Haj serves as an excellent example for the journey towards building a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka.
The Prime Minister called upon all citizens to reject narrow differences and instead demonstrate respect and compassion towards others in order to create a society founded on peace and coexistence.
She concluded by wishing that the Haj festival would bring joy, peace, prosperity and blessings to all.
