Over 4,300 Affected Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

Due to a low-pressure area located to the northeast of Sri Lanka, strong winds and rough seas are expected in the surrounding sea areas, the Department of Meteorology has warned. In addition, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for several Divisional Secretariat divisions across 12 districts.
The Natural Disaster Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology has issued a Level Two warning regarding the low-pressure system prevailing around Sri Lanka.
The low-pressure area located to the northeast of the country continues to persist, and the Department of Meteorology has stated that the current rainy and windy conditions around the country are expected to continue.
Furthermore, strong winds and rough sea conditions are expected in both deep and shallow sea areas surrounding Sri Lanka, as well as in the deep sea areas of the Bay of Bengal. However, the Department has stated that there is no likelihood of this system developing into a cyclone (depression) within the next seven days.
