The AIADMK faces a deep crisis as party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami expelled 29 leaders, including rebel MLAs who voted for the rival Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government during a crucial Assembly floor test.

This support helped the TVK-led coalition, with backing from Congress and others, secure a majority. Rebel leader C Ve Shanmugam accused Palaniswami of abandoning AIADMK's core anti-DMK ideology, sparking internal demands for reconciliation to strengthen the party ahead of elections.
