Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has stated that he will appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) tomorrow and will attend all inquiries he is summoned for.

He made these remarks while speaking to the media after paying last respects to the late Kapila Chandrasena, former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, on May 10.

Rajapaksa said Chandrasena had served the country and described his death as a major loss, while expressing deep condolences.

He reiterated that he would appear before CIABOC tomorrow (Tuesday) and cooperate with all investigations.

Kapila Chandrasena, who had been arrested and later released on bail in connection with the controversial Airbus procurement deal, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on May 8.

In this backdrop, Rajapaksa is to appear before CIABOC tomorrow for questioning, based on statements Chandrasena had reportedly given to the Commission regarding the aircraft purchase.
