The White House is moving quickly from battlefield pressure to diplomacy, with US President Donald Trump dispatching a high-level team led by Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for the first round of US-Iran talks on April 18.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Trump is dispatching his Iran negotiating team, led by Vice President JD Vance, to Pakistan for talks, with the first round scheduled for April 18.

Leavitt added that Vance will be joined by senior Trump advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for the negotiations in Islamabad. “The first round of those talks will take place on Saturday morning local time, and we know we look forward to those in-person meetings,” Leavitt told reporters.
