Oracle has initiated a global round of layoffs impacting around 20,000 to 30,000 employees, roughly 18% of its workforce, with significant job cuts reported in India and Mexico. Employees received early-morning emails notifying immediate termination without prior warning or manager discussions, causing shock and frustration.

These layoffs affect primarily cloud and engineering teams and coincide with Oracle's strategic shift toward AI infrastructure investment.

Similar workforce reductions have been observed across other tech giants, reflecting a broader industry trend of realignment and addressing over-hiring.
