Four New High Courts to Be Established in Colombo 7: Government Announcement

Cabinet has approved the allocation of premises for the immediate establishment of four new High Courts in Colombo. These courts will be set up in four identified buildings in Colombo 7 to expedite long-pending cases.
Under the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (2025–2029), the Ministry of Justice and National Unity has identified the need to establish additional High Courts.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Administration will transfer certain buildings under its purview to the Ministry of Justice for this purpose.
The cabinet approved this proposal, identifying the following locations in Colombo 7:
No. B 88, Gregory Road
No. C 76, Bauddhaloka Mawatha
No. B 108, Wijerama Road
No. B 12, Stanmore Chandravanika
Cabinet has also approved the proposal to utilize underused or partially completed government buildings and infrastructure for productive purposes.
Based on data collected by the Treasury and the Ministry of Public Administration, 2,972 such underused or incomplete buildings have been identified across the country, and a report has been submitted to the President.
Accordingly, relevant ministries and institutions are required to promptly prepare and implement plans to repurpose these facilities effectively.
