Young girl critically injured after falling from apartment balcony

A young girl was critically injured on the morning of July 4 after falling off an apartment balcony, paramedics say.

The child fell from an 11th-floor balcony of a building in the 1500 block of Alta Vista Drive, said Kevin Montgomery, commander at the Ottawa Paramedic Service.

Paramedics were called to the building at 11:22 a.m.

The girl was assessed at the scene before being rushed to CHEO's emergency department, Montgomery said.
