A single-vehicle accident near an Edmonton transit station disrupted downtown traffic in the early morning of June 23, triggering rush hour road closures and commuter delays.

The crash occurred at 100th Street and 102nd Avenue, leaving the driver with serious injuries and spreading debris across the tracks at the street-level station near the main library.

The driver was treated and transported to hospital with serious injuries that are still being assessed, according to the statement. The police statement added that no other injuries have been reported at this time. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
