Kannagi Nagar's Karthika shines with Kabaddi gold in U18 Asian Games

A 17-year-old from Chennai's Kannagi Nagar has become the pride of the State post her performance in the Under 18 Asian Games in Bahrain, striking Gold for the nation. Karthika, as vice captain of the Kabaddi team, is being celebrated for the team winning the match against Iran in Bahrain. 

Fondly called as ‘Karthika Express’ won the match with a scoreline of 75-21.

One main reason for Tamil Nadu celebrating Karthika is that she never shied away from mentioning that she is from Kannagi Nagar, a residential area created by the State Government as a part of a slum clearance project across the capital city. 

Karthika’s mother, who drives an autorickshaw, has been the sole supporter for the young star to achieve her success.
