India proving doubters wrong with its economic reforms: IMF chief
16-Oct-2025.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has said that India is emerging as a key driver of global economic growth at a time when many major economies are slowing down.
Speaking ahead of the IMF-World Bank annual meetings in Washington, Georgieva said India’s strong economic policies and reforms have helped it stand out as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
“Global growth is forecast at roughly 3% over the medium term — down from 3.7% before the pandemic. Global growth patterns have been changing over the years, notably with China decelerating steadily while India develops into a key growth engine,” Georgieva said in her statement. She added that India is “proving its doubters wrong” through bold reforms and consistent policy efforts.
