Prime Minister Meets UNFPA Resident Representative

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held a meeting at her office with Kunle Adeniyi, the outgoing Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sri Lanka, who is concluding his official tenure in the country.
During the discussion, Mr. Adeniyi expressed deep gratitude for the strong cooperation extended by Sri Lanka to UNFPA during his service, particularly acknowledging the Prime Minister’s leadership in establishing the Women’s Commission.
He also commended the professionalism and dedication of Sri Lankan colleagues, noting that they were among the best partners he had worked with during his tenure.
The Prime Minister, in turn, expressed appreciation for UNFPA’s longstanding engagement with Sri Lanka and praised the significant contributions made under Mr. Adeniyi’s leadership.
Senior officials from both sides participated in the meeting, including UNFPA Deputy Representative Dr. Dayanath Ranatunga and Head of Office Puntsok Wangyal, along with Sri Lankan representatives such as Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputhanthri, Additional Secretary Sagarika Bogahawatte, and Mrs. Dayani Mendis, Director General of the UN and Human Rights Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
