Let North Indians learn Tamil: Kanimozhi

As the language debate continues to intensify with Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently weighing in by saying that Hindi is not an enemy of any language, DMK MP Kanimozhi on Jun 28 retorted that neither is Tamil, and urged people from North India to learn the language.

Shah recently said that Hindi is not an opponent of any Indian language, but rather a friend to all, and that there should be no opposition to any language in the country.

“If Hindi is not the enemy of any language, then Tamil is also not the enemy of any language. Let them learn Tamil. Let the people of North India learn at least one South Indian language. That is true national integration. We are not anyone’s enemy. We are friends to all. Learn our language too” Kanimozhi said. Kanimozhi did not name Shah in her comments.
