Kerala hijab row: 2 more students drop out of school
20-Oct-2025.

Days after a student was refused to wear a hijab at a church-run school in Kerala's Kochi, two girls of the same institution have dropped out, with their mother alleging that the management was biased towards other religions.
According to Jesna, the mother of the two girls, they have applied for a transfer certificate to shift to another school.
Jesna asserted that the stance taken by St Rita's school management, which prohibits the wearing of hijab on the premises, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president had scared them.
"I wear a hijab. The statement regarding a little girl wearing a hijab will create fear in others is an insult to my faith and culture. They behaved in this way towards their own students because they harbour deep hatred towards other religious beliefs and customs. We feel that it will not be good for my children's future to grow up among teachers and school authorities with such a mentality," she wrote in a Facebook post.
