Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's remarks on protecting the rights of elected state governments from "assaults" of the Centre on Saturday hinted at the possibility of the party supporting the Aam Aadmi Party's fight against the Delhi ordinance.
At a press conference on Saturday, Ramesh said, "The Congress Party has always opposed any attack on the federal structure of the elected governments in the states and it will continue to do so. Both inside, as well as outside the Parliament."
The Congress' statement, which didn't directly mention the Delhi ordinance issue, comes amid an ongoing disagreement with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
The Congress may finally decide to support the AAP on the ordinance issue in Parliament, sources told India Today.
