TN CM M K Stalin meets Rolls-Royce officials, says company plans to set up MRO unit in TN

Tamil Nadu government said on September 4 that Rolls-Royce, a global aerospace and defence technology firm, has expressed strong interest in expanding its operations in Tamil Nadu. 

The industries department said, “It plans to set up an MRO facility, an R&D and training centre, and significantly expand its IAMPL joint venture in Hosur. With Tamil Nadu being home to one of India’s two Defence Industrial Corridors, this engagement with Rolls-Royce underscores the state’s potential as a hub for advanced aerospace manufacturing”.
 
Chief Minister M K Stalin on the second leg of the TN Rising European visit held a series of high-level meetings in the UK, culminating in MoUs across defence and aerospace, maritime, renewables, textiles, and design.

Lloyd’s List Intelligence will expand its Global Capability Centre in Chennai, creating 200 jobs by FY26.

Wilson Power & Distribution Technologies announced a Rs 300-crore transformer plant that will generate 543 jobs, while Britannia RFID Technologies India will invest Rs 520 crore in RFID tag units at Tiruppur and Namakkal, creating 550 jobs. 

In education, Ecole Intuit Lab tied up with Sakthi Excellence Academy to launch a design institute in Coimbatore. The University of Exeter signed an MoU for joint research and faculty exchanges.

These MoUs, leveraging the India–UK Free Trade Agreement, "mark long-term steps to position Tamil Nadu as a national and global leader in high-value sectors", the TN government said.
