Talks with US to Gain Further Concessions Will Continue — President Anura

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stated that negotiations with the US successfully reduced the reciprocal tariff rate from 44% to 30%. Further talks are expected to yield additional benefits.

He emphasized that the government's goal is to introduce reforms that are favorable to the economy, trade, businesses, and the livelihoods of the people.

During a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat with all stakeholders from the export and manufacturing sector, the President noted the need to focus on the positive aspects of these challenges and identify new market strategies in collaboration with the private sector.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industries, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dr. Anil Jayanta Fernando, Western Province Governor Haniff Yousuf, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. Harsha Suriyaarachchi, Secretary to the Ministry of Trade K.A. Vimalendrarajah, and Senior Economic Advisor to the President Duminda Hulangamuwa, among others.
