Meta to mark more engineers as underperformers in mid-year reviews
23-May-2025.

Meta is planning to rate more employees as low performers in the company’s mid-year reviews, according to an internal memo seen by Business Insider.
Managers have been told to place a higher number of employees in the below-expectations category — the lowest rating in the company’s performance system.
For teams with 150 or more employees, the target range has been raised to 15 to 20 per cent. Last year, it was 12 to 15 per cent.
This change comes only a few months after Meta let go of nearly 4,000 employees, or about 5 per cent of its workforce, many of whom were rated as low performers.
