Glencore mine workers in Sudbury reach tentative deal to avoid strike

The union representing more than 650 workers at the mining giant, Glencore, in Sudbury, reached a tentative deal for a new contract on Friday evening as a strike was looming.

Ratification voting is now set for Sunday.

Glencore runs two nickel, copper and precious metal mines in Sudbury, along with a mill and smelter. The company employs 1,200 people in the region and supports another 1,200 contractors.
