Microsoft buys land in Hyderabad to expand data center business

This recent acquisition complements Microsoft's existing network of data center regions in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai, which have been operational for the past five years.

According to The Economic Times, Microsoft has bought land valued at Rs 267 crore in Hyderabad as part of its expansion plans for its data center business in India.

The information, sourced from Propstack, a data analytics firm, states that Microsoft has purchased 48 acres of land from Sai Balaji Developers in Hyderabad. The report quotes a source indicating Microsoft's ambitious intentions to develop one of the largest data centers in the country, as part of its broader plans to expand its data center business in India.

The chosen property is located around 40 km away from Hyderabad's main city, and Microsoft is reported to have paid a premium for it.

This recent acquisition complements Microsoft's existing network of data center regions in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai, which have been operational for the past five years.

Additionally, Microsoft has acquired two more land parcels in Hyderabad to support the expansion of its data center business. It's noteworthy that the company has been steadily increasing its presence in the flexible office space sector.

In Hyderabad, Microsoft runs its India Development Centre, which is a crucial campus alongside its Bengaluru and Noida locations.
