ChatGPT competitor Claude is now available on iPhones

Claude is an AI chatbot developed by former OpenAI employees who left before ChatGPT was launched.

Claude was developed by Anthropic and was launched in March last year. For the unversed, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was OpenAI's VP of Research for about 4 years and lead teams that built the LLM behind ChatGPT.

However, towards the end of 2020, Amodei reportedly felt that OpenAI was prioritising profits over safety, and he left the company and formed Anthropic with other ex-OpenAI employees.

Hence, Claude is an AI chatbot developed by former OpenAI employees who left before ChatGPT was launched.

The chatbot works in ways similar to ChatGPT but has a more direct approach to answering questions. While ChatGPT focusses on answering in a human-like manner, Claude prefers sticking to the facts. In addition to this, Claude can also analyse images and files, something that ChatGPT cannot.

In order to download Claude on your iPhone, go to the App Store and type Claude. You will then be able to locate the app in the list. Download it and wait for the download to finish. Now, click on the app after it is downloaded and follow the instructions. You can either login with your Google account, an email, or Apple ID. Once the login is complete, Claude will ask you for your name and you will have to agree to certain conditions. After this, you can use the app on your iPhone.

However, it is to be noted that the free version of the app will have limited messages for users. You will have a time-limit in which you can send about 7-8 messages to Claude. After a couple of hours, you can again message the AI chatbot. You can also opt for the Claude Pro subscription, which costs Rs 1,999 per month. To subscribe, you can simply tap on the pop-up message and make the payment.

Switching to the Claude Pro plan has certain benefits, including priority access during high-traffic periods, access to Claude 3 Opus which is Anthropic's most intelligent model and early access to new features.
