Trump proposes 50% tariff on EU goods from June 1

President Donald Trump said on May 23 that he’s proposing a 50% tariff on EU goods from June 1, blaming the EU for being unhelpful in trade discussions.

He posted on Truth Social, "The European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of taking advantage of the United States on TRADE, has been very difficult to deal with." He added, "Our discussions with them are going nowhere!"

Trump’s threat has increased tensions with the EU, showing the tough stance his administration continues to take towards Europe.
