Microsoft is firing about 6,000 employees
17-May-2025.

Microsoft is laying off around 6,000 workers, less than 3% of its total staff, in order to reduce expenses while spending big on artificial intelligence (AI).
In recent years, big tech companies like Microsoft and Google have been investing more money into AI, which they believe is the future of the business. At the same time, they’re cutting jobs.
"We continue to implement organisational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
