The Special Investigations Unit said the agency began its investigation on April 14, 2022, after police notified the Special Investigations Unit about the incident.
Const. Jeff Turnbull faces one count of sexual assault. He is a 14-year member of the Hamilton Police Service and has been on paid suspension since the SIU laid the charge. The SIU did not confirm when the charge was laid but reported it in a press release on June 8. Turnbull is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton on July 6.
