Nine arrested for stealing 940 engines from Andhra car manufacturing unit

Police in Andhra Pradesh's Sathya Sai district arrested nine people in connection with the theft of 940 Kia car engines from a manufacturing unit in Erramanchi, Penugonda Mandal.
The accused were produced before the Penugonda court and remanded to 14-day judicial custody. Police booked them under several relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
The main accused, Vinayakan Muthi, is a resident of Tamil Nadu, while his accomplice, Salim, hails from Punganur in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.
The remaining six accused, all from Tamil Nadu, allegedly helped the duo carry out the theft.
The case came to light on Mar 19 after the Kia unit’s management filed a complaint with the police. A detailed investigation led to the arrests and the recovery of car engines worth several lakhs of rupees.
