Uttarakhand High Court relief to people facing action under Uniform Civil Code

.

In a big relief for people affected by the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, the Uttarkhand High Court gave them permission to approach the court against any action taken by the authorities.

The order comes days after the Uttarakhand government announced the implementation of Uniform Civil Code, making it the first state to do so.

The order was passed during the hearing of petitions challenging the Uniform Civil Code 's implementation in the state.

"If any individual is affected, they may approach this bench...If any action, please come to us..." remarked the High Court Division bench

Chief Justice G Narendar, addressing Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who appeared for the petitioners, stated that anyone facing penal action under the Uniform Civil Code could move the court and would be given a hearing.

The High Court had earlier issued notices to the Uttarakhand government, seeking its response to the petitions challenging the new law.
