David Moyes returns as Everton manager after 12 years away
.
David Moyes has been appointed as Everton’s new manager, nearly 12 years after leaving Goodison Park to join Manchester United.
The 61-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, replacing Sean Dyche, who was dismissed on Thursday by the club’s new owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG), after he indicated that he had taken the team as far as he could.
The 61-year-old Scot was TFG’s primary choice, with the deal finalised after productive talks on Friday.
Moyes reflected on his history with the club, stating, "I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club. I’m excited to work with The Friedkin Group and help rebuild the team. Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to get behind the players this season, so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team."
