S Jaishankar slams Canada's targeting of envoy

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday stated that India outrightly rejects the manner in which the Canadian government has targeted Indian diplomats amid the ongoing diplomatic row over Ottawa's allegations of New Delhi’s involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Speaking at an event in Pune, the minister said that India had initially raised concerns about organised crime in Canada, but the issue was overlooked due to a long-standing permissive atmosphere.
He underscored India’s emphasis on national integrity and sovereignty, calling for a “more sensible, more sober, more responsible” approach from the Canadian authorities.
"We completely reject the manner in which the Canadian government targeted our High Commissioner and diplomats," Jaishankar said in response to a question.
