Root's remarkable career reached new heights as he achieved a career-high rating of 932 points following his dominant performances in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan.

This saw him rise to 17th on the all-time list, putting him in elite company with some of the sport's most iconic figures.

Root's highest Test score of 262, which came during England's commanding win in the first Test in Multan, propelled him further up the rankings. He now surpasses his previous-best rating of 923 points.
