New eye drops could eliminate reading glasses

These new eye drops, known as PresVu and manufactured by Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals, will be available from October in pharmacies and will be sold via prescription for Rs 350.

India's drug regulatory agency has approved new eye drops that can help remove reading glasses in people who have presbyopia.

These new eye drops, known as PresVu and manufactured by Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals, will be available from October in pharmacies and will be sold via prescription for Rs 350.

These eye drops were given the final approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) after the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation's (CDSCO) Subject Expert Committee (SEC) recommended the product earlier.

According to the manufacturers, PresVu is claimed to be the first eye drop in India designed to reduce the need for reading glasses in people with presbyopia, a common age-related vision condition that affects people over 40.
