Search, Gmail, YouTube affected in yet another worldwide tech outage
The cause of the new chapter on worldwide outages has yet to be discovered, but it's already turning out to be a perplexing development as many Americans are only beginning their workday.
Google users worldwide on Monday complained about being unable to access Gmail, search, YouTube, and other services. The issue comes close on the heels of the Windows outage across the globe on August 12 (IST).
Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages, instantly caught on the “error” prompts. Reports of the Google outage started skyrocketing on the graph around 9 am ET with the first batch of complaints.

Downdetector's heat map showed Google problems plaguing Los Angeles and New York City the most. Meanwhile, Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston and Chicago were marked in yellow.
