Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for Waterloo Region and Stratford.

The weather agency warns of conditions favourable for brief snow squalls this morning or afternoon, ending on Thursday afternoon.

Flurries combining with winds gusting to 70 km/h could cause a sudden drop in visibility, while rapidly accumulating snow could impact travel conditions.

Local snowfall amounts of 15 to 35 cm are possible, with peak snowfall rates of 3 to 5 centimetres an hour.

Environment Canada recommends postponing any non-essential travel until conditions improve.
