Thirteen people were also injured in Wednesday's accident at the Kunyuan coal mine in the city of Jixi, and its cause is still being investigated, the broadcaster said.
A notice issued by China's cabinet in November stated that the accidents exposed inadequate coordination of development and safety, failure of the main safety responsibilities of mining enterprises, and weak mine safety foundations.
