PV Sindu, Kidambi Srikanth failed to inspire India on the first anniversary of Thomas Cup victory as India were knocked out of the Sudirman Cup badminton tournament. India went down 0-5 against Malaysia on Monday, 15 May, as the heavyweights lost in straight sets.

Kidambi Srikanth, India's main singles player was erratic on the day and lost to Lee Zii Jia by 21-16, 21-11. PV Sindhu, on the other hand, fought back well after losing her first game, but a poor showing in the decider let her down

India were third in the group with Chinese Taipei and Malaysia finishing as the top two teams to qualify for the quarterfinals.
