The government is attempting to incite racial and religious clashes again in the country for its political survival, National People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

The government is attempting to incite racial and religious clashes again in the country for its political survival, National People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
He said a certain television channel had taken the lead in inciting such a clash, just as in the past.
Speaking at the NPP Anuradhapura District Convention of the Retired Tri-Forces Forum, he said all Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil people of the lower rung had united and stood against the rulers who had destroyed the country for 75 years.
Dissanayake said the rulers who were frightened of the unity of all the communities were now trying to divide them again. He said that "the rulers had divided the people as north and south and then again they are trying to divide them as Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim.
People should not fall prey to such an attempt of the rulers to grab power, adding that the country has suffered immense suffering due to communal clashes".
