Learnt Hindi so I could take on Modi ji: Revanth Reddy
.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy strongly opposed the imposition of Hindi, stating that the language should remain an option rather than being forced upon people. Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2025, Reddy criticised the BJP-led central government’s push for Hindi, arguing that linguistic diversity should be respected and preserved.
“Option hona chahiye (There should be an option). Hindi is not the national language. Hindi ke liye itna koshish kar rahe hain Modiji (Modiji is making so much effort for Hindi), Telugu is the second-largest spoken language. What did you do? Don’t force Hindi on us,” Reddy said, questioning the government’s efforts in promoting regional languages like Telugu.
Reddy also took a sharp jibe at the Prime Minister, explaining why he chose to learn Hindi. “Hindi mein bol raha hoon na? (I am speaking in Hindi, right?) Modi ji ko thokne ke liye Hindi seekha na (I learnt Hindi to take on Modiji),” he remarked, suggesting that he had learnt Hindi to effectively challenge the Prime Minister in political battles.
Reddy made it clear that he was not against Hindi but against its imposition. “Why are you imposing Hindi on us? If it is optional, no one has an issue. I am speaking in Hindi today, I have learnt and am speaking it. Don’t impose it on us, that’s what we are against,” he said.
